A devastating lakhtar viramgam highway accident in Gujarat has left seven people dead and several others injured, sending shockwaves through the Bharwad community and the entire Surendranagar district. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours near Bhaskarpara village on the Lakhtar–Viramgam highway, when a speeding truck rammed into a group of pilgrims walking along the road as part of a religious journey.

According to local authorities, the victims were part of a pilgrimage group traveling on foot from Rajkot to a temple in Gadhka village. The journey, which was meant to be a spiritual offering of faith, turned into a horrifying tragedy when the truck driver allegedly lost control and plowed into the group from behind.

Speeding Truck Runs Over Pilgrims

The lakhtar viramgam highway accident took place between Charad and Bhaskarpara villages late at night. The group of pilgrims, belonging to the Bharwad community, had set out from Rajkot and were walking toward their destination when the incident occurred.

Witnesses say the truck approached at a very high speed and struck the pilgrims before they had any chance to move out of the way. The force of the collision was so severe that several people were thrown onto the road, and some died instantly at the scene.

The horrific crash turned the quiet highway stretch into a chaotic and tragic scene. Survivors and nearby travelers described hearing desperate cries and screams for help moments after the impact.

Seven Dead, Including Five Women

Officials confirmed that seven people lost their lives in the accident, including five women and two men. All of the victims reportedly belonged to the same extended family from the Bharwad community.

Among those who died were Masabhai Karshanbhai Mundhwa, Jaluben Masabhai Mundhwa, Raniben Mangabhai Lambariya, and Vajiben Vibhbhai Mundhwa. The remaining victims were also members of the Mundhwa family, making the tragedy even more heartbreaking for the community.

The loss of so many members of one family at the same time has plunged their relatives and villagers into deep mourning. Community members gathered at the hospital and the accident site as the news spread across nearby areas.

Pilgrimage Ends in Heartbreaking Tragedy

The pilgrims had undertaken the journey as part of a religious tradition and were headed to a temple in Gadhka village near Rajkot. According to relatives, the group planned to hoist a ceremonial flag at the temple as a mark of devotion.

Instead of completing their spiritual journey, the pilgrims met with a fatal accident before reaching their destination. Family members said the victims had left with faith and hope, unaware that the journey would end in tragedy.

Many villagers described the incident as a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers faced by pedestrians and pilgrims on highways across Gujarat.

Bodies Scattered on the Highway

Eyewitnesses who reached the scene shortly after the crash reported a horrifying sight. The impact of the truck was so strong that several victims were thrown across the road, leaving the highway covered with debris and blood.

One witness said the truck driver appeared unable to control the vehicle and ran over nearly ten pilgrims before stopping. Some of the victims died instantly, while others succumbed to their injuries before medical help could arrive.

Emergency services were alerted immediately, and ambulances rushed the injured to nearby hospitals. Unfortunately, doctors declared seven victims dead upon arrival.

Police and Officials Rush to the Scene

After receiving information about the lakhtar viramgam highway accident, Lakhtar police quickly reached the site along with emergency response teams. The bodies were later transported to Lakhtar Government Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

Local MLA P. K. Parmar and Surendranagar’s in-charge Superintendent of Police Vedika Bihani also visited the accident site to assess the situation and gather details about the incident. Authorities assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine how the accident occurred and who was responsible.

Community leaders, including religious figures and Bharwad community representatives, also arrived at the hospital to support the grieving families.

Truck Driver Flees After Crash

Police officials confirmed that the truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. A case has been registered against the unidentified driver, and search operations are underway to locate and arrest him.
